When you've done the rest of Asia and want something a little different...
Welcome to Bagan! Some of the amazing temples.
There are many ways to explore the thousands of temples of Bagan: bike, horse and cart, and our favourite: hot air balloon.
The views from the hot air balloon. The large temple is Dhammayazika, our favourite. We can't recommend Balloons over Bagan highly enough.
The gorgeous BlueBird Resort in Bagan - this is the reception. The rooms and bathrooms are huge. Bagan itself is pretty low-key, although we did spot an elephant.
A side-trip to Ngapali
Ngapali's gorgeous beach. Ngapali is a fishing village so watch the boats as they come and go and the local women as they dry fish on the beach in the mornings. The fab Yoma Cherry Lodge - you'll be shocked by how affordable it is.
Eat at the shacks on the beach, especially the Ngapali Palace - it's the best seafood we've ever eaten and the view can't be beaten. The 'Ngapali Commodity Exchange' - the buying and selling of fish every morning as the boats come in. Bumping along in the back of the local transport.
